Meet the giants of Brazil

A well-kept secret among wildlife lovers and nature photographers, the Pantanal shines as Brazil’s best region for animal watching. As the world’s largest floodplain, its rich geography sustains an incredible diversity of birds, reptiles, and large mammals. This seasonal wetland spends part of the year underwater, and its wildlife has adapted to this ever-changing environment. For photographers and those looking to get close to animals that thrive in one of the last great untouched natural reserves on Earth, the dry season is paradise.

From May to October, immense bird flocks arrive in search of fish, as some 200 species gather around the temporary lagoons and oxbow lakes. Roseate spoonbills, wood storks, and jabirus create a spectacular display, while caimans and capybaras are drawn to the water alongside them. At the top of this food chain is the elusive jaguar, the undisputed king of the Northern Pantanal. Here, giant and neotropical otters, greater rheas, and other species coexist unafraid of human presence. The open plains, free of hills, offer a privileged stage for wildlife observation, while the vibrant ipê trees in bloom add a stunning seasonal contrast. Those interested in local culture can also witness the unique lifestyle of the “pantaneiros,” skilled cowboys who navigate the wetlands herding cattle.

Complementing this untamed beauty, Iguaçu National Park stands as one of South America’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Spanning both Brazil and Argentina, its Brazilian side protects 180,000 hectares of lush Atlantic rainforest and dramatic waterfalls. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Iguaçu is home to an astonishing variety of flora and fauna, playing a vital role in Latin America’s biodiversity. With exclusive early access, visitors can experience the park’s breathtaking scenery in a serene setting, immersing themselves in its raw power before the crowds arrive.
