Rota das Emoções is an unforgettable journey through some of Brazil’s most stunning coastal landscapes, beginning in the paradise of Jericoacoara and ending amidst the surreal dunes and lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses. This itinerary takes you along the untouched coastline of the Northeast, through remote fishing villages, vibrant ecosystems, and breathtaking scenery, offering a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility.

Starting in Jericoacoara, you will explore its golden dunes, pristine beaches, and crystal-clear lagoons, experiencing its laid-back atmosphere and spectacular sunsets. As the journey continues, you’ll cross rivers, mangroves, and deserted beaches by 4×4, speedboat, and ferry, reaching the heart of the Parnaíba Delta and its labyrinth of islands.

Finally, the grand finale awaits in Lençóis Maranhenses, where vast white dunes meet rainwater lagoons, creating an otherworldly landscape unlike any other. This route offers an immersive experience in Brazil’s raw beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality.

Itinerary

Everything you can expect, day by day.

Day 1 | Fortaleza – Jericoacoara

Upon arrival in Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará and one of Brazil’s most vibrant coastal cities, you will embark on a private 4×4 transfer to Jericoacoara. This remote and charming village, located approximately 300 km from Fortaleza, is famous for its golden dunes, turquoise lagoons, and relaxed atmosphere.

The journey takes you along scenic roads, passing through small towns and stretches of untouched coastline before reaching this hidden paradise. The rest of the day is free to explore Jericoacoara at your own pace.

A suggested activity is climbing the main dune to watch one of Brazil’s most breathtaking sunsets. Overnight in Jericoacoara.

Day 2 | Jericoacoara

After breakfast, set off on an exhilarating adventure through Jericoacoara’s stunning landscapes on a buggy, ATV, or UTV tour. The journey begins with a stop at the iconic Lazy Tree, a windswept mangrove that has become a symbol of the region. Continue along the coastline to Preá Beach, known for its strong winds and vibrant kitesurfing scene, before heading inland to the crystal-clear waters of Blue Lagoon.
The highlight of the day is Paradise Lagoon, a breathtaking oasis with shallow, turquoise waters and white sandy shores. Here, you’ll enjoy an immersive lunch experience at a lakeside restaurant, where you can savor fresh seafood and regional flavors.

After free time for swimming and relaxation, return to Jericoacoara through the dunes of the national park, arriving in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is free to explore at your own pace.

Day 3 | Jericoacoara

A full day to immerse yourself in everything Jericoacoara has to offer. This former fishing village turned tropical paradise is known for its laid-back vibe, scenic landscapes, and wide range of outdoor activities. You can take a surfing lesson in the gentle waves, try stand-up paddleboarding in the calm waters of the lagoon, or go on a guided horseback ride along the shoreline.
For those looking for adventure, fat bike tours across the dunes provide a unique way to explore the surroundings, while hiking trails reveal panoramic views of the coast.

If relaxation is the goal, indulge in a therapeutic massage or simply unwind at a beachfront bar with a fresh coconut in hand.

Day 4 | Jericoacoara – Camocim

The day begins with an off-road journey towards Camocim, crossing some of the most scenic landscapes of the region. The first adventure takes place at Guriú Beach, where a ferry navigates through a serene mangrove area filled with aerial root formations, creating an otherworldly setting. From there, we continue to Lagoa da Torta, a tranquil oasis with crystal-clear waters, perfect for a refreshing swim. A leisurely lunch by the lagoon (not included) allows time to take in the peaceful surroundings.

In the afternoon, the journey continues to Ilha do Amor, an island known for its stunning dunes and pristine beaches, offering more free time to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.

As the sun begins to set, a final ferry crossing takes us over the Coreaú River to Camocim, a charming town with a relaxed coastal atmosphere. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is free to explore or unwind. Overnight in Camocim.

Day 5 | Camocim – Barra Grande

Leaving Camocim behind, the journey unfolds along the untouched coastline of Ceará, revealing some of the region’s most breathtaking and secluded beaches. The first stop is Barra dos Remédios, an untouched paradise often listed among the world’s most beautiful deserted beaches. The landscape here is a mesmerizing blend of dunes, mangroves, and the ever-changing meeting of the river and sea.

Continuing along the coast, we explore two more hidden gems: Bitupitá and Curimãs, both offering pristine beaches and calm waters. There’s time for a refreshing swim and a leisurely lunch at a local spot before heading inland toward Chaval. Here, the Carnaúba Trail winds through the impressive rock formations of the Stone Park, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.

As the day draws to a close, we arrive in Barra Grande, where the warm waters and gentle breeze invite you to relax. The evening is yours to enjoy a peaceful swim, stroll along the beach, or simply take in the stunning sunset.

Day 6 | Barra Grande – Parnaíba

The journey continues toward Parnaíba, passing through unique landscapes like the iconic “Combed Tree” and vast dune formations that shape the eastern coast of Piauí. Upon arrival, we head to Porto dos Tatus, the gateway to the stunning Parnaíba Delta, where a private speedboat awaits. Navigating through a labyrinth of mangroves, channels, and islands, we make a stop at the golden Feijão Bravo dunes in Baía do Caju, a place of surreal beauty.

A break for lunch takes place on Ilha das Canárias, a protected island known for its rustic charm and fresh seafood. Afterward, we continue exploring seasonal lagoons and the tranquil river waters, where there’s time for a refreshing swim. As the sun sets, one of the Delta’s greatest spectacles unfolds — the synchronized flight of the Scarlet Ibis, painting the sky in vivid red.

The day concludes with a return to the port and transfer to the hotel, where the evening is free to relax or explore Parnaíba’s charming historic center.

Day 7 | Parnaíba – Atins

Today, we head towards Maranhão, following a scenic route to the remote fishing village of Tutoia. Along the way, we stop at the hauntingly beautiful Shipwreck Beach, where remnants of old vessels rest on the sands, adding a touch of mystery to the coastal scenery. Lunch is enjoyed at a local restaurant before continuing the journey toward the Pequenos Lençóis Environmental Protection Area, a stunning stretch of golden dunes and oases.

Reaching Caburé Beach, where the river meets the sea, we board a local boat for a short but picturesque crossing to Atins, a peaceful village at the edge of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.

After checking in at the lodge, the evening is free to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Atins.

A walk along the vast, untouched beach is a perfect way to take in the village’s laid-back charm.

Day 8 | Atins

A day dedicated to the surreal landscapes of the Lençóis Maranhenses begins with a journey through winding trails surrounded by low vegetation, leading to some of the most breathtaking lagoons in the Atins region. These crystal-clear waters form natural swimming pools among the white dunes, creating a landscape that feels almost otherworldly.

Lunch is a delicious local experience at one of the village’s iconic rustic restaurants — either Sr. Antonio’s, famous for its grilled prawns, or Carminha’s, known for its fresh seafood dishes prepared with regional flavors. The afternoon is spent savoring the peaceful beauty of the desert-like dunes before witnessing an unforgettable sunset over the vast, rolling sands.

As the day winds down, we return to Atins, where the evening is free for relaxation.

Day 9 | Barreirinhas

The morning is free to enjoy Atins at your own pace, whether relaxing in a hammock, exploring the sandy streets of the village, or taking a final dip in the warm waters of the sea. Late in the morning, we transfer to the port for a scenic boat ride up the Preguiças River, passing through mangroves and remote riverside communities.

The first stop is Mandacaru, one of the oldest villages along the river, where the towering Preguiças Lighthouse offers panoramic views of the lush landscape. Further along, in Vassouras, we encounter playful capuchin monkeys and browse local handicrafts made by the region’s artisans.

As we reach Barreirinhas, the gateway to the Lençóis Maranhenses, there’s time for a leisurely lunch at a riverside restaurant before heading to the hotel.

The rest of the afternoon is free to unwind or explore the town’s small but lively center.

Day 10 | Barreirinhas – São Luís – departure

After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the mesmerizing landscapes of Lençóis Maranhenses and embark on the return journey to São Luís. Covering approximately 250 km, this scenic land transfer takes around four hours, passing through small towns and lush countryside. The transfer will take you to São Luís International Airport, ensuring a smooth connection to your departing flight.

Payment Policy:

  • 30% deposit
  • Balance due 60 days prior arrival
  • The deposit of 30% will be requested after the booking confirmation. It’s a guarantee of reservation and is not refunded in case of cancellation of the trip for any reason (except travel restriction to the destination due to the pandemic – in this case the tour can be rescheduled). The deposit amount will be deducted from the remainder of the payment.

Cancellation and refund policies

  • All cancellations and trip change requests must be made in writing by mail or by email and received, and acknowledged by SouthQuest.
  • All cancellations requested up to 61 calendar days prior to departure have non-refundable security deposits unless SouthQuest is able to renegotiate the terms with the service providers. That is why it is important that cancellations are announced as early as possible.
  • Cancellations made with 60 calendar days or less prior to group starts are assessed a cancellation fee of 100% of the trip price, including domestic flights, extensions, and extra services such as hotel nights
